QUESTIONS & ANSWERSWhat happens during our first meeting? Before our first training session together, we will sit down and fill out some necessary forms. These will include questions on your health and medical history and exercise experience. Your answers to these questions will determine your physical readiness for fitness training as well as help me determine a staring point for your program. This initial meeting also gives me a chance to get to know you a little better and it is your opportunity to ask me any questions you may have. If you have a preexisting medical condition, or indications of one, it may be necessary to obtain clearance and guidelines from your physician before we can begin any workouts. Obviously, your safety is of paramount importance and therefore, I cannot have you start any physical training until I am confident you can progress safely. Our initial meeting is provided at no charge. When all paperwork is complete and any medical questions have been addressed, we'll schedule your first workout! What will my first workout be like?We will begin with a basic postural assessment and an evaluation of your flexibility. The first training session tends to be the most "instructional", as it is the beginning of an ongoing process where we work as a team to define your goals and establish an exercise approach that you are comfortable with and will provide the results you are looking for. We will progress gradually and your workouts will become more challenging as your fitness improves. Your program will be evaluated periodically to ensure you are getting results and to keep you motivated and interested. What should I wear?Dress comfortably (t-shirts, shorts, sweats, etc.), wear quality, supportive athletic shoes, and we're ready to go! Where will my training sessions be held?Training sessions will take place in the privacy of your own home or a mutually agreed-upon location. (i.e. outdoor track or public facility, provided we can gain admittance.) I already have a gym membership. Can my training sessions be held there? As a rule, no. I would have to be a contract employee of your gym in order to have permission to train you there. My place of employment has a fitness facility on-site. Can we train there? This will depend on the rules of your company's facility. If you contact the folks in charge, I'm sure you'll be allowed to make arrangements for personal training in the employee gym. How often should we meet for training? This is determined on an individual basis. In general, most clients benefit the most from training twice a week with me and then two to three days independently. Once per week is adequate for some. We will discuss training frequency in your initial consultation. Can I do a joint session with a friend?Yes, partner sessions are available. Please see the pricing page for details. Do you offer training outdoors?Yes. Obviously, our unpredictable New England climate will be a factor but as long as we have access to an appropriate outdoor facility, I LOVE training outdoors! Also, we would need a back-up indoor location, determined in advance, in case of inclement weather. |
